Ms. Heptner was born and raised in Michigan . She relocated to Florida in 1980 and graduated from The University of South Florida in 1982 with a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science. In 1983 she enrolled in Stetson College of Law, Gulfport, Florida. In her second year she helped organized the accreditation of sixteen students to attend the summer semester in Grenoble, France and Oxford, England. During her attendance at Stetson Ms. Heptner participated in the Academy of Trial Lawyers Competition and was a member of the Society of Trial Advocacy.

Ms. Heptner received her Juris Doctorate Degree in 1985 and in 1986, began practicing with the Pinellas County Public Defender's office. During her service over the next four years she litigated in the Juvenile, Misdemeanors and Felony divisions. Ms. Heptner was certified by the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers in 1988. During her time with the Public Defender's office Ms. Heptner was blessed with starting a family, and gave birth to her two children, Sierra and Dane Heptner. Sierra is now graduating from University of Central Florida and will soon be entering medical school, while her brother is graduating with her from the same institution and will soon be entering law school.

Ms. Heptner is admitted to practice law in the State of Florida and in the Federal District Court for the Middle District of Florida. She has been a member of the Association of Trial Lawyer since 1985 and a member of the American Bar Association since 1986. Within one week of the birth of her second child in 1990, she opened Bridget Heptner Law Office Inc., in the same building in which she's still located. Her initial practice included criminal defense, bankruptcy and family law. After twenty one years, Ms. Heptner now specializes solely in Family and Marital Law, at that same location.

Ms. Heptner has just been elected to serve as President of the Clearwater Bar Assocation, for the term 2012 to 2013. In the year 2007 she was elected to the Board of Directors and she also became the Chair of the Family Law Section; she served in that position from 2006-2010. She was then elected as the Senior Director of the Clearwater Bar in 2009. For the years 2007, 2008 and 2009, Ms. Heptner was awarded the President's Award for her distinguished and devoted contributions to the Clearwater Bar, which consisted of her chairing numerous committees, such as the Family Law section, the CLE cruises, the annual picnic and the Annual Golf Tournament.
